eduPad sells to a French edTech company
We’re proud to announce the sale of our portfolio of educational content to a French edTech company.
eduPad’s unique content treasure trove of more than 100K original activities and lessons from 1st to 8th grade in Math, Language Arts and Science, available in English (US CCSS curricula) and French (programmes scolaires officiels Français) will be progressively integrated in new apps published by our buyer, live a new life and help an even greater audience, which fills us with joy.
What happens next?
eduPad apps will still be available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store for the next 5 years, after what they will be sunset. App support sunsets now and other eduPad ops stop now.
iTooch apps will not be updated anymore from now on though, so they may not work perfectly or even crash in the future due to an OS update which may break the code.
Thank you!
Growing from 0 to 10M users without raising venture capital money is the kind of experience you’re lucky to live once in a lifetime.
Ranking steadily in the top 5 educational publishers in the US and in France in the Apple App Store, the Google Play Store, the Windows App Store and Amazon Kindle App Market during 7 years with a team of seven, competing with multi-billion-dollar globally established publishers and US startups raising hundreds of millions of dollars is also a bit of a challenge.
What an exhilarating ride it was!
More than 300 professionals (teachers, game designers, experts, psychologists…) contributed to this amazing adventure, but it wouldn’t have been possible for eduPad to thrive as it did without the indefectible trust, support, and sometimes challenge from you, parents and teachers, who constantly helped us design one of the best, most simple and enjoyable learning experience.
So 10 million thanks to all of you!
It’s all about learning
10 million users is just a cold, abstract figure, one can hardly figure out.
Users’ feedback enabled us to get a glimpse of the reality behing this figure. And gee, we did get a lot of feedback! More than 1.000 people shared with us their thoughts on the apps on every single day (more than 3.000 on Saturdays and Sundays). We took pride in answering to all of these feedbacks, which was sometimes challenging, especially on weekends!
And every week, in this ocean of user feedback, we received a couple of testimonies which stoked us. A kid, or a parent, or an educator, telling us how iTooch truely helped her. Sometimes the stories were so moving we shed tears.
The stories which had the biggest impact on us were the ones where a child told us how she stopped fearing going to school or was able to come back to school after using our apps. This is when you realize what you work so hard on has some true meaning.
So yeah, the figures on the charts and the dealflow were fine, but what we’ll miss the most from now on will be these authentic children stories.
The good news is the people we’ve sold to are specialized in education for children with special needs, so their values 100% resonate with ours.
As for ourselves, as unamendable entrepreneurs, we’re already working on our new projects. But shh! It’s too soon to tell about it!
So long, with love,
